Spike has received several Champions and Supremes in-hand and is currently working nicely under saddle, obtaining 62% and 63% at his first Dressage outing.

Showing his versatility and wonderful temperament Spike also enjoys jumping, trail class and novelties making him a true all-round Sporthorse. In 2006 Spike's first progeny will be rising four year olds and now embarking upon their careers under saddle and displaying the talent, temperament and versatility to develop into excellent Sporthorses. Spike's Purebred progeny have been exceptional, and when crossed with the Thoroughbred his progeny have far surpassed our greatest expectations. Having covered a greater variety of mares in 2005 we are now anxiously awaiting the 2006 foal drop.

In February 2006 we were devastated when Spike received a penetrating wound to his coffin joint leaving his riding future very uncertain with a poor prognosis.

After initial intensive Veterinary treatment, we followed on with several natural therapies and two and half years off. We are very pleased to announce that Spike is now showing a marked degree of soundness and has commenced slow work.

Our sincere thanks and appreciation go to Lea of Smart Bowen and Antoinette of Hi Form Products as without their advice and products I am sure Spike wouldn't be where he is today.

While not being ridden during 2006 – 2008 Spike did attend to his stud duties and we are just so proud of him, his progeny improve with each year and he is now attracting mares of many breeds and disciplines showing his true versatility as a breeding stallion.

2009 has seen the return of Spike to the show ring and after such a long break in the paddock he has behaved like a true gentleman. Our highlight so far is the winning of the Supreme of Supremes Horse of the Show at the Anzac All breeds Extravaganza in April 2009. 

We were more than impressed with line up of Spike’s progeny the oldest now a rising 7 year old at the Gosnells Summer Showoffs show in February. Spike has also been enjoying several under saddle outings while attending our local Adult Riders Club of which the members were extremely happy with his return to the club. We look forward to more outings as the year progresses.
