  A permanent full-time grounds person is required at the State Equestrian Centre, Brigadoon. The ideal candidate will have an agricultural or farming background, with some mechanical aptitude. This role reports to the Senior Groundsman and SEC Manager.
  Horse handling experience is not necessary however basic stock or horse knowledge is preferred.
  This role involves mostly outdoor work with some customer interaction, mainly on competition days. The work is varied and this role will assist the Senior Groundsman in managing and maintaining the 164 acres at the SEC. This role will suit an individual who can work on tasks unsupervised as well as adapt to the varying tasks prior to and during a competition or event.

  Duties will include:
  Turf maintenance/watering/mowing/slashing/etc.
  Arena surface maintenance including grading/leveling/watering
  Arena and equipment maintenance/minor repairs
  Minor mechanical repairs
  Customer service on competition days
  Venue cleaning

  Essential criteria:
  Current Australian Citizenship and current Western Australian Drivers Licence
  Current Police Clearance or willingness to obtain one
  Current Working With Children Clearance or willingness to obtain one
  Physically fit

  Desirable criteria:
  Skidsteer/bobcat experience

  We require a flexible person, able to Instruct a range of clients from nervous beginners, to confident riders and must be good with special needs riders and have some experience in that field. We require somebody able to ride very well as part of the position includes schooling horses & ponies and leading trail rides.

  We require somebody able to be firm with clients when they need to work outside their comfort zone and know when to back off and take things slowly. This position entails coaching lessons for a variety of riders, taking care of my horse's welfare and not allowing them to be yanked on or thrashed, riding and schooling, taking out trail rides, managing staff, transporting horses in my float and so on.

  Hours are some during-the-day work, mostly after school hours, all day Saturdays and some Sunday work on occasion.
