Rio is a rising 4 y/o first cross andalusian gelding by Gotico Park Luishairo out of an ASB mare A Little Happy. I bred this horse with the intention of him being my next dressage horse but as he has grown tall and confident I've realised I no longer have the time or inclination to train a youngster!
Both his sire and dam are beautifully moving athletic horses and Rio has inherited his beautiful conformation and movement from them both, along with the calm and confident temperament of his andalusian sire. Rio currently stands around 15.3hh and still has a fair bit more growing to do.
Nothing has been missed in the development of this youngster. Gelded at 6 months old, he is branded and microchipped, and has full vaccination and worming history. Has had his feet trimmed every six weeks all his life and a teeth check up each year. His wolf teeth were removed earlier this year. Rio is registered with the Andalusian Horse Association of Australasia.
Rio has been well socialised with horses of both sexes and allowed time as a youngster to be with horses his own age. He is always the bottom of the pecking order in the paddock, and always the first at the gate for human interaction.
Rio was lunged, long reined and backed by Edward Baker as a two year old, then as a three year old lunged and long reined again, and then ridden a few times by my coaches in the round yard and in the arena at walk and trot. I have floated him regularly and done lots of work on the ground, including leading him in traffic and leading over poles and small jumps. Rio was turned out for the winter and now that he has turned four has been restarted under saddle - he is going great and has been ridden out on the road, in the paddock, through water, as well as in the arena. Videos are available on request.
Rio is available for sale to an experienced home as he now needs educating - he would be a rewarding summer project for an experienced horseman, woman or teenager.
