Sadly I have come to the decision to sell my 1* eventer. Chester is an absolute ripper of a horse and just loves his existence as an eventer. Will make a competitive 2*, or even 3* horse. Only selling as I just don’t have the time to keep him fit and compete him at this level. He makes 1* look so easy that it would be selfish for me to only compete him at a lower level. And it’s time for me to spend some more time with my young family.
Chester has come home with a ribbon in every event entered except 1 where he came 10th in a very competitive field. Even though he is a big horse, you do not need to be tall or strong to ride him. He is very compact and easy to ride. He only takes a 6'6 rug and will fit in a standard float. He has even been ridden by a small 13 year old girl. Chester does not get excited going places and will behave the same out as he does at home. He is a bit of a character on the ground but is amazing under saddle. No buck, bolt, rear or dirtiness at all. Even after a long spell, he will come back into work the same as the last time you rode him.
He will make a great horse for someone looking to have a play in the star classes or someone who needs a reliable mount to get some confidence back. He will jump anything you put in front of him and is not fazed by anything on XC or in the Show Jump arena. He will always leave the ground no matter how awful you ride! (I know this by first hand experience).
All I wanted to do all year was compete in my first 1* but I just couldn’t put the required fitness work into him. So when I had the opportunity to do this on Chester recently, even after I hadn’t ridden him for 6 weeks, I decided to give it a go and tick it off my bucket list. I was extremely out of practice and not fit to do any riding, let alone a 1* but I knew Chester would look after me. He flew around our first 1* like he had been doing it forever to jump clear and he looked after me so well. His clear round is a credit to his education, love of eventing and ease of riding. He pulled up amazingly, which is more then I could say for me!
Chester is currently in work with Sarah Dawson (3* event rider) in Kirup and going really nicely. All the hard work has been done on this horse. Time for someone to buy him and go out and enjoy themselves.
**Chester just competed at Perth's Eventing in the Park as a loan horse. He behaved amazingly for his new rider to just have 2 unlucky rails down (and the joker). This horse really is as bold and honest as they come.
