Smooch is up for sale due to no fault of her own, I started at university last semester and realise I don’t have the time or money to keep her. I have owned Smooch for the better part of 8 years, so I will be ensuring Smooch goes to the best of homes. She is currently in paddock condition but will be bringing her back into work asap.
Smooch is definitely an Alpha Mare so requires a confident handler and rider as she will try to see what she can get away with but once the original “test what I can get away with” stage is done, smooch is a delight to ride and handle. She is a dream to bring back into work, she had 6 months off between rides this year and I simply jumped on and no dirt.
Although we have no seen the inside of a competition ring for some time, we have still had numerous outings mostly for riding lessons. Smooch has excellent movement and excels at dressage but she is not interested in jumping (what so ever!), so if you are looking for an all-rounder, smooch is not the horse for you.Smooch has excelled under the instruction of Victoria Hamilton and would be best served as a dressage or hack mount. She is quiet and laid back when taken out, very quick to settle in. Smooch is amazing to float, almost self-loading when she knows its home time. I have taken her out on trail rides, both alone and in company and is quite chilled although can get excited when it’s time to canter. Although, Smooch can get spooked easily at new things, and sometimes funny looking bushes but with a confident rider these are easily overcome.
Smooch lunges with voice commands, in a lunging system or without. Great for the farrier, easy to worm and easy to catch. Her laterals are all establishes, she works nice and softly in frame and is ridden in a loose ring, French ring snaffle. I don’t ride with a whip as she hates them, but for lateral movements I have used small spurs at times. She is very sensitive to her rider so requires someone with a stable seat, and only requires soft aids.
She can be easily ridden bareback, rolled all over, standing etc. Easy to to take down to the beach etc. Price is negotiable but the home is not.
