Rising 7-year-old, buckskin Gypsy Cob x QH gelding by Hemlock (IMP), out of Freckles BonBon, standing at ~14.1hh.
Reg – APSB
Drover is currently schooling at Prelim level and started laterals (leg yield/shoulder-in/traver) at walk and trot. He will ‘Park’ at any object for mounting (block/log/concrete trough etc).
At the beginning of 2020 he attended his first dressage competition at Serpentine H&PC and won the prelim test with 67.4%. He has also been to pole clinics and the beach.
Whilst being started under saddle, he had professional groundwork training including over obstacles such as a seesaw, tarps & blowup mattress, water squirt box, ball pit, pool noodle lane, curtains and more.
Drover is good to float, clip, trim and catch. He does prefer to hack out in company/with a lead pony as he can be anxious (scream/call out/be on high alert) and nap if he’s on his own outside of his home environment, although he is excellent in traffic (eg. along the Thomas Rd bridle trail).
Currently on hay and in light work.
Drover requires a home that can offer him consistent and regular work that he can put his energy towards and to help to regulate his weight. He is a ‘doer’ and can be cheeky when he’s not in work or when he is bored. He requires firm boundaries both in hand and under saddle or he will try to push you around. He is not nasty in any way but he is an immature cob with a busy brain that needs stimulation and direction.
He is NOT suitable for a child/as a first pony/for anyone coming from a riding school or off of a school horse. He requires a rider with an independent seat and hands.
He would suit a confident, competent and competitive older teen/adult rider.
Some gear/tack may be available by negotiation.
References will be required and you may be asked to provide video footage of yourself riding prior to viewing.
