Ralph is a Super sweet boy with a heart of gold who LOVES his food and will do anything for a carrot, self loads on the float and will stand all day for the farrier, his only vice is he doesn’t like to be clipped, we think he may have had a bad experience whilst he was a race horse. He does enjoy the beach when we get the opportunity to go. Will happily go out on a bush ride either alone or with other horses doesn’t worry about trucks, trains, motorbikes, kangaroos, or anything else that might come across his path. He also has the company of our family goat, ducks and chickens which he has no worries with and certainly has no separation anxiety issues but our goat does when he leaves the yard!! He is very good at agility, will walk straight over tarps, through deli blinds, over bridges, doesn’t care when we has bags or anything hanging off the side of him he will always place in the top 3!!. His dressage is very consistent with scores in the high 70s and 80s and receives positive comments for his movement and self carriage. ODEs he always places in the top 4 after the dressage phase. He has show jumped up to 85cm and jumped a few single 1.10m fences and over the past 4 years we have consistent placings in the 65cm eventing class rarely coming home without a ribbon. Recently competed 80cm eventing coming home with a 4th place. However his heart just isn’t in Show Jumping more the higher heights he just doesn’t like to lift his legs he doesn’t mind the lower levels though. He really does excel in dressage and does like and has no issues cruising round a XC course.
He was my first horse coming off a pony and was and still has the safest and quietest temperament you could ever want for your first horse. We have been fully involved in pony club which he has been amazing participating in anything that he was asked of even games and barrel racing!! We attended zone camps, various clinics with Rick Dabner, Eve Jarvis, Liesl Wilding, Dave Carey, Deb Spence, Phillippa Collier and even more exciting a two rider XC clinic with Sir Mark Todd! He certainly has given me the confidence to move forward in my eventing career that he sadly just cannot give me.
He is up to date with worming, teeth and currently shod and fully sound. Vet checks welcome.
He would be suited to a new rider coming off a pony, dressage rider or low level eventing or an adult rider. He certainly has so much more to give and I am just devastated that we can no longer be the best wee team that we have been for the past 4 years.
Serious inquires only as this is a very heartbreaking and hard sale to make. If enough interest is made and there are a number of genuine riders wishing to view there is the possibility of bringing him to Perth.
We will be very fussy when it comes to his new home so we are in no rush.
