In his younger years he was beautifully educated by Julie Walsh, and competed
by her and her daughter Jess up to 105cm eventing with success.
In 2015 he spent a few months with Kirsten Twining, then was ridden by Megan Jones
at Eventing in the Park, and leased out soon after.
He was an honest and reliable jumper and an absolute pleasure on the flat.
Somewhere along the line in the years after, Bertie had some stressful times,
and some anxiety issues came to the fore, both in the dressage phase at
competitions and also with his jumping.
His recent competition results are thus erratic and his confidence can now waiver
at heights over 95cm. He is no longer suitable for his current owner to
progress through the eventing grades with, and we think it is best he finds
someone who only wants to jump small (90 and under) so his confidence can
rebuild with time. He maintains his ample ability to go higher once the
partnership is established.
Bertie is still a delight to ride on the flat and will get even better as his
strength builds – I doubt there would be a nicer or more educated ride in his
price bracket. He is a beautiful strong type and a real gentle soul.
He is a pleasure to handle and have on the property, he does windsuck but it
does not affect his condition.
This horse deserves a kind and caring experienced home – someone who would
thrive on building a connection with him and giving him what he needs to become
the reliable partner he wants to be.
He is in work and available for viewing in Darling Downs.
His price is a pure reflection of prioritising finding the right home as soon
as possible for him.
