The saddle is an older model manufactured by Kieffer, München (Germany). As most Kieffer saddles, particularly of those build more previously, it comes in solid, lasting full-grain leather. The saddle has a cut back pommel and sits on a tree with a medium-wide gullet. The seat is very comfortable with modest knee rolls, which does not jam the rider in but still gives enough stability to find your own leg position. The saddle comes fully mounted with stirrup leathers, stirrups and anti-chafe girth.
I am a bit of a Kieffer “tragic” and have owned and ridding in Kieffers for many decades. I found that Kieffer saddles fit most horses. Saying this, this saddle does not fit my super-wide shouldered, quite heavy (fat, actually), big gelding and for this reason the saddle is for sale. I bought the saddle second hand without having the chance to try it. However, it was looked over by a very experienced saddle fitter after my purchase, who attested that the saddle is sound in its construction.
The saddle would suit ponies as well as regular build horses, including those with a higher withers.
I live in the Great Southern region near Katanning but travel to Perth regularly. Happy to show you the saddle and let you try it on your horse or pony.
