Meet Florence, an 11-year-old, 16h, Warmblood x Stockhorse mare. She is home-bred from my dad’s polo mare to Dr Michael Proctor's imported eventing stallion, Showdown. 

She had done a bit of everything in her life. She had a foal as a 7-year-old, has competed for two years in eventing, showjumping and dressage up to 80cm and training 90cm/ novice dressage. She is the ultimate family horse who will take your 5 year old for walks, safely take your 12 year old around, and still has the movement to be an exceptional dressage horse. 

She is pretty much bombproof and has done the following: 

-had friends with no experience chucked on her to go cantering around the farm 

-carried 3 year old cousins safely on joy rides 

-Been to the beach 

-Millions of trail rides

-jumped in a neck rope 

-jumped bit-less

-jumping any log, hay bale in the paddock 

-carried full grown sheep over her neck across paddocks 

-my favourite horse to do sheep work on 

-decorated in tinsel for Christmas! 

She is more whoa than go and can sometimes need a little extra encouragement in the arena, but is happier out on trail rides. She is a dressage coach's dream horse with a lovely frame and Floaty movement.

She is one of my favourite rides as she is so reliable and never gets hot after time off. She is a very easy keeper and is happily fat off just hay, but while in work usually gets a small hard feed. Good feet has always been run barefoot) and just had her teeth done. Loads and travels very easily, dropping her head to eat as soon as she gets off the float. 

I have debated selling my girl for so long, as she is my right-hand mare that always takes care of me, but I’m heading up north to work on a station this year and then starting uni, so unfortunately, my future is quite time-poor. 

Late last year, Florence came up lame following a strenuous jumping lessons and after some investigation we found a very small fetlock bone chip. she is currently in work and sounds for flat work and low level jumping but if jumping was something you want to pursue then this is something to take into consideration. Anyone can ride Florence, but to get the best work out of her she needs to be given a little time and respect. It’s very important to me that you are 100% happy with her, so would prefer to do a minimum 1 month long trial to make sure everyone fits well together.
