Companion Horse Available – “Addy” (7 y/o OTTB Mare)
📍 located: Oakford
Addy is a 7-year-old off-the-track Thoroughbred mare looking for a loving home as a companion horse. This is a very tough decision and not a rushed sale, the ad is up simply in case the right home comes along.
She currently lives with my gelding, and is incredibly sensible and calm around him. I believe she would get along beautifully with anyone. Addy has a genuinely sweet, kind nature and is happiest just relaxing in a paddock with a friend by her side.
While Addy has been lightly ridden, she can present as a bit tender or foot sore. I've had both a saddle fitter and equine massage therapist assess her, and neither could find anything significantly wrong. I do believe that with more time, patience, and consistent care, she could potentially return to light riding but she is being sold as a companion because that’s where she’s happiest right now.
The only reason I’m letting her go is due to time constraints and the fact that Snoopy develops separation anxiety when she’s left behind while riding. Addy is very independent, easy to handle, and unbothered generally.
This is a lovely mare with a heart of gold. She deserves a peaceful life with good company, and if that sounds like your setup, feel free to reach out. If the right home doesn’t come along, she’ll happily stay with me.
