Description
Retired sound from racing in June 2021 and was delivered a few days after his last race. I picked him up to be an eventer but I haven’t had the time for two horses. Since then he had a let down and has mainly been a companion horse for my competition mare whilst slowly being trained as a ridden horse.
Affectionately known as ‘dude’ because he is super chill, even straight off the track.
Roley has started learning to bend his body and be on the bit. He showed promise as an eventer as he will go through any puddle and was not fazed by fill when he started jumping. He did have a bit of get up and go when he was fitter but has mellowed more as he aged. Has only been off the property for road walks and spelling but has been easy to handle on all occasions. Lovely soft mouth going in a French link snaffle.
Good to clip, shoe, float with/without company and fine with being the only horse around, spending a week here without another horse in sight.
Fine with our dogs and noisy items like leaf blowers and lawn mowers.
Roley is the first one to call out in the morning for his breakfast and often neighs when you approach him in the paddock. He has a very lovely nature, plays with his buckets, loves a good neck scratch and would enjoy more attention. With the basics installed he would make a great project for someone to bring along or a super chill trail or arena horse for someone to enjoy.
To get the best out of Roley, I would recommend that he has somewhere dry to stand in winter as he was prone to abscesses until we started stabling him after the first winter. Has typical thoroughbred feet but has been barefoot for the last few years. He also gets targeted by flies so needs rugging and fly veils in summer.
This is a sad sale but I am moving interstate and he must be sold. Price negotiable but home is not. Currently in paddock condition and Photos all taken this week
