Sebastian is a sweet guy, currently a colt but after a lot of thought have decided he will be gelded at the soonest possible date, I purchased him from Flinders island in Tasmania as a wee baby and he came to me at 10 months old. I believe a bad branding experience (hot iron 4x with no sedation) caused some confidence/trust issues, and took quite a bit of time to be able to complete some basic tasks without him spooking but in time he has come very far.
The past couple of months I reached out for some assistance as I found us to be at a bit of a standstill with his progress, and found it in a couple of beautiful ladies, Hannah Read (Hill River Equestrian) who came to us 3x a week earning his trust enough to have him self loading on a float, and a heap of desensitization which just brought him completely out of his shell and prepared him for his few weeks with Susi May. While he was with Susi he worked on his overall confidence and life experience with her. Learning to lead from a quad bike through the bush and to the beach, he also has lunging and long reining down pat. Susi handed over that his results were so great if he were there to be started there wouldn't be too many steps before a career under saddle could commence.
Both ladies +R with great results, specifically clicker training he is very familiar and responds extremely well to this!
For a colt Seb is very 'quiet' especially when it comes to mares being around, he is unphased by my minagerie of animals, trucks, tractors, chainsaws ect. But at this point in time new faces and environments can be overwhelming for him, the more he is exposed to the quicker he lets his guard down and focuses on what's being asked of him in these situations. For this reason Sebastian requires a confident, dedicated and motivated partner, ideally with only one or two other horses, to ensure he receives plenty of one on one time and a multitude of opportunities for growth. Someone who enjoys participating in clinics, lessons, and outings would be so very beneficial for Sebastian's continued development and would see the greatest results.
Seb is priced at $14,000 neg, well below the $22,000+ I have invested in him as a stallion prospect, however I have his best interest at heart and know he will make a wonderful partnership with someone as a gelding.
