Description
Hilde is the sweetest in your pocket mare you will regularly find her at the gate waiting patiently for attention of any sort. If I were just after a companion or broodmare that was just happy to be loved and fussed over there would be no better applicants.Having spent most of her life raising beautiful babies I recently decided to have her started to saddle. She took this all in her stride without issue and is now looking to persue a ridden career with the right partnership. Hilde has the potential to be an amazing family horse (PC, ARC potentially even RDA ect) but she definitely needs clear and confident cues from an experienced rider or at least a good instructor to keep her on the right track for a little while longer to really cement in all that she's learnt (just typical green horse). Hilde can be quite lazy and if cues aren't clear her response can sometimes be to not move at all. She has absolutely no dirt on the ground or under saddle, if anything catches her off guard her version of 'spooking' is to either plant her feet and stare or take couple steps back and maybe a snort but this is a very rare occurrence.
Hilde has been to the beach which she handled great, well exposed to livestock, poultry, tractors, flags, tarps ect. She is easy to catch (will follow you around the paddock without a halter). Good to have her feet done, loads well is just an all round enjoyable mare to keep.
Some things she doesn't appreciate include: Worming, isn't keen on the hose to start with but once you start washing her is fine. Bridling needs to be done slowly and carefully as to not knock her teeth, once bridle is on no issues. I have ridden her bitless since she has been home and she's adapted to this very well. Generally doesn't mind being taken away herself and focuses on what is being asked of her but will call out if her paddock mate leaves. Like any horse the more regularly you do things the better she gets.
Hilde has been having ridden lessons with Hannah from Hill River Equestrian and has been doing absolutely awesome. Showing once again her ability to adapt and learn new ques/skills in a timely manner. She has become quite forward and moves into trot with little to no hesitation. We have put a bit of concentration on her steering/focus as we have found that she tends to 'veer' in the direction of other horses that are 'in sight' on that side of our property. We have implemented appropriate training methods/strategies to aid with this and great improvement has already been shown, she is now super easy to correct with the last couple of rides not really doing it at all.
Hilde is absolutely stunning and has produced some equally lovely foals. She is a very protective mother for the first few weeks but does a brilliant job raising her foals as I'm certain she will continue to do in the future. It would be great to see her go to a WA home that's interested in breeding down the track with there being only 11 fjords in WA.
Brown (bay) dun in colour.
Registered APSB. Could be registered with dilutes.
Extremely regretfully sale. I originally purchased Hilde to be a part of my breeding program but since that didn't work out my focus has shifted to just enjoying my horses and riding. Due to my own nerves and incompetence I feel for peace of mind I need an older/experienced/been there done that type or potentially giving up on riding all together. Regardless of this she will always have a home here as a much loved paddock puff if a suitable home doesn't come along.
