Sunday 20th March 2022
Horsemens Pony Club are pleased to announce our first event for 2022 Top of the Hunt series. The
event will be open to PCWA members and PCWA Open members.
This event is apart of the PCWA Hickstead Leaderboard and HPC Top Of The Hunt award
(Entries Close Monday 14TH of March 2022 or earlier if event is FULL)

This event will be run under the Pony Club WA Hickstead (2020) and any changes per
the HPC Eventing Committee. Entering this event constitutes implicit acceptance of the
PCWA rules. All competitors are ultimately responsible for knowing these rules and
complying with them. PCWA gear checking rules apply.
A Horse or Pony may compete in 35cm, 45cm, 65cm, 80cm & 95cm in competitions
from the beginning of the calendar year in which it turns 4 years.
2022 Top Of The Hunt Series
This year we are bringing back Top Of The Hunt!
Top Of The Hunt is a series run by Horsemens Pony Clubs with 3 eligible events
HPC Arena Eventing #1 on the 20th of March
HPC Hunter Trials on the 26th of June
HPC Arena Eventing #2 on the 18th of September
To be deemed eligible for the series the same horse rider combination must attend
all 3 events.
“Top of the Hunt” will be awarded to the horse/rider combination scoring the most
points over the three events. A personalized rug with horse and rider name on it will
be awarded at the end of the series to both the top junior and senior horse/rider
combination.
All riders are eligible to be part of the “Top of the Hunt” and there are no extra entry
charges to be part of the series.

* Top of the Hunt 13 – 17 years
* Top of the Hunt 18 – 24 years
* Top of the Hunt Open Rider
How is it Scored?
Riders penalties for both rounds will be added to their final score for all 3 events
The horse/rider combination at the end of all 3 events with the lease penalties will
become “Top Of The Hunt”.
NOTE this event will be run as a mix of cross country and showjumping in an arena
with a small section taking place in the cross country course bordering one of the
arenas. The 30cm round is a training/encouragement round that assistance and/or
lead-line is allowed. All other classes after this follow usual Hickstead rules under
PCWA.

PLEASE NOTE

Order of classes may change to give riders adequate time between rounds
Class sizes will be limited and classes will close when full.
We are part of WHITEMAN PARK – please consider the environment of this wonderful
piece of Western Australia. All rubbish must be placed in the bins provided and ALL
manure must be picked up from where ever your horse is and placed in the bins.
HPC is an Alcohol and Smoke-Free venue
ENTRIES
Please note the changes from previous events! Entries are open on Ktrials. Payment is
via PayPal through Ktrials. If no entry fee is received within 24hrs of entry on K-Trials –
your entry will be void.
Remember: NO PAYMENT means NO ENTRY. Email and telephone entries not
accepted.

These fees include Hickstead and Leaderboard levy.
HPC Members $65.00
All other PCWA Members $75.00 – (PCWA Number required)
Yards can be hired for $10.00 each limited availability via Ktrials.
NOTE ENTRY FEE (allows maximum 2 rounds per horse and rider combination 1 rider age
class & 1 horse height class)
COMPULSORY HELPERS
All competitors must nominate a helper, one rider – one helper; helpers nominated for
more than one rider will get an extended duty. Entries without nominated helpers will
not be accepted. Helper duties include:
– Starter
– Finisher
– Penciller
– Jump Judge
– Gate Marshal
– Arena Party
– Gear Checker
– Scorer
– Set up (Saturday) limited places (please email us for this option only if you
CAN NOT complete a helper duty during the event)
– Canteen Helpers (HPC Members Only)
– Pack Away (Sunday After end of event)
WALKING THE COURSE
The course will be open for walking once course is built on Saturday and on the day of the
event after change of height.
STARTING TIMES
Start times for each class will be available on Ktrials before the event.
NOTE Gates at HPC will open at 6am on the day of the event.
RIDER WITHDRAWALS (SCRATCHING A HORSE / RIDER)
The Event Secretary must be notified of all withdrawals prior to the event. Rider
withdrawals made after the event closing date, will still require the entrant to attend the
event to complete their helper duty. Failure to complete a helper duty will void your right
to a refund.
Refunds will only be granted and processed if the competitor scratches before the closing
date OR after presentation of a Doctors or Vet Certificate – within 7 days of the event – to
excuse the rider and horse from participating at the event.
Each horse scratching incurs a $15 admin fee.
ATTENTION
DOGS ARE NOT PERMITTED ON HPC GROUNDS AT ANY TIME. This is due to Whiteman
Park Regulations.
NO CAMPING PERMITTED
CANTEEN
Horsemen’s canteen will open Sunday at 7.00am – EFTPOS AVAILABLE – All Major Credit
Cards are accepted including PayPass & ApplePay.
PRIZES
Rosettes to 6th place
We would like to remind all competitors to thank our wonderful sponsors of their prizes as
without them events would not be what they are today. This can be done on social media by
posting and tagging business just simply saying “thank you to (tag business) for sponsoring my
prize”
VET
Please be advised that a vet will not be on course for this event
EMERGENCY MEDICAL SERVICE
Qualified paramedics will be present on the day to provide medical
attention. In the event of a fall you must be assessed by the
paramedics on the grounds.
YARDS
Yards are available for hire for this event at $10.00 per yard. Limited
number available (selection via Ktrials, on a first in basis)
NUMBERS
Each Rider must provide their own approved number holder/bibs which must be worn
for the event. Horses must have a bridle or blanket number.
Please note: Clear plastic sleeves and adhesive tape will not be accepted as number
holders. Riders who present to gear checking using this form of number holder will not
be allowed to compete. The club will have a limited number of medical armbands and
bib holders available for purchase on the day if required.
JEWELLERY
As per PCWA rules
DRESS CODE
Long Sleeved shirts/polo-shirts/windcheaters must be worn. Coloured jodhpurs and chaps
may be worn at this event and short/long riding boots. Please note the standard for riding
helmets will be enforced.
Riders are allowed to wear their own cross country silks/colours.
HAIR
Must be neatly restrained, long hair to be plaited and secured above shoulder length
– this will be checked at Gear Check
HELMETS
All helmets must conform with national standards AS/NZS 3838(AU) PAS 105(UK) ASTMF
F1163 (USA) VG1 (EUROPE) EN1384 (EUROPE) only acceptable for helmets made up to
2015.
GEAR CHECK
All competitors must have a gear check before each of the classes
they are riding in. Note: Helmets and rider numbers must be worn
whilst mounted at all times
BACK PROTECTORS
All competitors must wear an approved back protector
No Vest = No Ride!
EXAMINATION AFTER A FALL – MEDICAL FITNESS
The rider must present to the ambulance. If there is any doubt with regard to the fitness
to compete, the Ground Jury (TD/Organiser) may – subject to Medical Advice – eliminate
the athlete (rider) at their sole discretion. All athletes (rider) that have had a fall during
the training, warm-up and/or competition must be examined by the paramedics before
they either take part in another round or leave the event site. The athlete (rider) or
parent/guardian are fully responsible for ensuring that this examination takes place and,
in the case of a horse fall, that the horse is examined by a veterinarian.
ACTION CAMERAS (WORN or MOUNTED) ARE NOT ALLOWED
UNAUTHORISED ASSISTANCE
Outside assistance is forbidden under penalty of elimination unless rider is participating
in the 30cm class. Any intervention by a third party, whether solicited or not, with the
object of facilitating the task of the rider or helping his/her horse is considered
“forbidden assistance”. Similarly it is forbidden for a competitor to join or accept a lead
from another. It is forbidden for a jump judge to call back or assist a competitor by
direction to rectify an error of course. Whether or not a competitor has received
forbidden assistance will be decided by the Technical Delegate and/or PCAWA
Steward.
OBJECTIONS (PROTESTS)
Protests are to be lodged with the appeals committee within 30 mins of the scores
being posted. The decision of the appeals committee is final.
PARKING
Due to the size of the event parking may become limited. All vehicles must obey all
directions of the parking attendants. Failure to do so may see the vehicles and
associated competitor being eliminated from the event. Portable yards at this stage will
be allowed but should space become limited some competitors may not be able to
deploy their yards.
Notes: Riders must be financial members of PCWA and attendance cards will be checked
at registration. Riders to provide Bib Number holders, Bridle or Saddle Cloth Number
holders and medical armbands.
HORSEMEN’S PONY CLUB IS A MANURE FREE CLUB!
All yards and car park areas are to be left clean and manure placed in
the large bins located in the parking areas. If your horse digs, please
fill in the hole before going home. All rubbish is to be placed in the bins
provided
