Narnia (She Bangs the Drum)

16.1hh, 13 year old, Thoroughbred mare

Narnia is a big and beautiful black mare with an amazing presence however she does have her quirks.

I have owned her for the past 3 years and in that time she has attended Adult riders, off the track clinics, as well as a few Showjumping and dressage competitions.

We have only competed up to 50cm Showjumping and Preliminary dressage. She has however trained up to 70cm at home.

The reason for me moving her on is because she suffers from anxiety when taken out of her nice secure 60 x 20 arena. It takes a good hour for her to calm down enough to get her around a jump course and if she doesn’t settle then she won’t jump. I was hoping she would my next showjumper but after 3 years of trying I just don’t think she is the one.

This a very hard decision and not one that has come lightly. I feel as if she would make a lovely dressage project for an experienced rider as she has definitely got the talent for it and loves being in an arena. I have done 8 dressage tests on her and she has always had lovely comments and comes away with good scores. She naturally has a beautiful self carriage frame and a lovely well established rhythm.

However she still has trouble getting the right canter lead under saddle and it is something she has had an issue with since the day I brought her.

Narnia is quirky and can be a handful when she is stressed. She will kick out behind and has attempted to buck a few times, she also head tosses. In saying this though I have never come off her and when she is relaxed she is actually more lazy than anything.

I’m trying to be as honest as possible as I know she is not a straight forward horse and I don’t want her going to the wrong person. She is however extremely affectionate and a big doofus personality wise which is what made me fall in love with her.

She has got a scare on her right eye which has been there since she was a yearling but it does not affect her eyesight. She has not got any other injuries.

She is good to catch, float, worm, shoe. She currently has front shoes and is in work.

She has also had a foal so I would be happy for to go as a broodmare as well.
