Description
Very quiet and kind mare. Still full of good energy at 25 years old and loves a regular bush hack or riding club.
Cedar has been ridden by my daughter who has transitioned off an 11hh pony and she has been the perfect quiet transition guide to help my daughter’s confidence. She has been ridden at a few pony clubs and jumps 45 cm, but due to my daughter going to boarding school, it is with regret that we now need to find Cedar another home.
Being a Waler (New South Wales stock horse), she has the most incredibly smooth and consistent canter (which is her favourite pace) which she can keep up long distances in an easy and comfortable gait.
You would never guess that she is 25 years old when you ride her as she has plenty of energy and has plenty of more ‘go’ than ‘whoa’. She is keen to get out on a hack, but also loves to be patted and cuddled on the ground.
Cedar is excellent for the Farrier and vaccinations and teeth, and is left unshod by us, but out on the hard gravel near our place, we ride her in Scoot Boots.
She is unfazed by dogs, kangaroos, emus, tractors, cars, chainsaws or heavy machinery. She is not aggressive with other horses and gets along in a herd.
She floats very well and prefers an angle loading float, but with Scoot Boots on she can be straight loaded.
She would make a wonderful adult riding horse for a light adult or a willing and kind leisure horse for confident children.
My daughter often rides her bare back and in a halter, and she has no issues being ridden out on a long bush ride like this.
We hope to find her a home with another horse or pony for company and someone to love her.
